Rich Bono is a freelance percussionist based out of Chapel Hill, NC. When he's not playing with the NC Brass Band, you can find him playing timpani with the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle and the Carolina Ballet or sitting behind the drumset with the NC Revelers Orchestra Big Band. Rich has performed and recorded with several orchestras, wind bands, brass bands, and musical theaters throughout the US with notable performances at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, WASBE and CBDNA conventions for wind bands, and a highlighted performance at the Sydney Opera House.
Outside of performing, Rich runs Bono Percussion, a percussion instrument repair business that services North Carolina and North Texas by maintaining and servicing equipment for local schools, churches, and individuals. Bono Percussion also teaches percussion repair through their YouTube channel and local professional development clinics for band directors to learn about basic percussion maintenance. He lives in Chapel Hill with his wife and two daughters, who think he is a rock star.
